One Breath Away From Burnout
One Breath Away from Burnout
FATHER GOD, hear my cry:
I am exhausted.
I am bored.
I am frustrated.
I am unfulfilled.
I know it is time to let go of my relationship kite.
I know I am trying to play a starring role in someone else’s movie.
I know my ego, driven by perfectionism, is driving me (and everyone else) nuts.
I know my spiritual confidence is drained.
I know I need to rededicate myself to you for who you are—not for what you can do for me.
I know I have been a poor steward, sacrificing the care and feeding of my physical body.
Actions I will take:
Example: Today, I will put my BlackBerry away for two hours.
Father, I come to you with an exhausted heart: bored with my body, frustrated with my job and—forgive me, Lord—unfulfilled in my spiritual walk. I know I am only one breath away from burnout and pray that you will send the Holy Spirit to breathe new life into my body; new energy in my work; new perspective in my relationships; and a merciful welcome as I return home to enjoy fellowship with you. Amen.
