On the Ground

FATHER GOD, I long to stop watching my life pass by the window. Bless me with

courage to take on adventure;

eyes to see the poor;

determination to fight against prejudice;

a heart for those infected by diseases such as AIDS and malaria;

the ability to put aside my old judgments and judgmental thinking to better love people where they are;

a fresh appreciation for the value of education—here in the States and for our sisters and their children abroad;

a spirit of hope and a retreat from my cynical ways;

an opportunity to get off the bus and get on the ground.

Actions I will take:

Example: Today I will stop pitying the poor and actually do something about it; I will volunteer at the food bank.

My loving Father, I lift up my sisters and their children—families a world away who have so little. I pray that you will show me what I can do, how I can make a difference, how I can impact those you love. You have blessed me with so much, Father; show me how to share this blessing with those you love. In the name of Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen.
