FATHER GOD, only you know the experiences I have been through and the hurt I have felt. You have spoken to my heart, and I know that

I can choose what I will reject or what I will embrace from my family;

I was loved less by them, but not by you. I choose to forgive them;

I have not honored my __________ but will now carefully choose positive things to remember—those things that will allow me to extend respect;

I may not have all the facts that caused my _______________ to be this way;

laughter is sometimes the only medicine; bless me with a sense of humor;

I am not a perfect parent either.

Actions I will take:

Example: Three positive things I will choose to remember about my childhood include...

Father, my heart breaks today for the child I was yesterday. Only you can heal the brokenness. Help me to consciously choose what to remember. Help me to consciously choose to forgive. Help me to realize that although I think I know my parents, there may be many aspects to their story and their history of which I am unaware. Father, pour your blessing onto my children by helping me be a better parent to them. Amen.
