What Does Love Mean?

What Does Love Mean?

Q: Love means

  • a. caring about everyone.
  • b. doing what God says to do.
  • c. attending church faithfully.

The book of 2 John was written to “the chosen lady and to her children.” Bible scholars don’t know if that means this was a specific lady and her children or a church. Either way, the book was written to answer questions about God’s truths. Sometimes leaders would claim to speak for God, but they were really speaking lies.

John says that the qualities of truth and love should be evident in every sincere believer’s life. Love for each other is a mark of a true believer. But John also says that love means doing what God says to do. While on earth, Jesus said the same thing when he told his disciples, “If you love me, obey my commandments” (John 14:15).

When we truly love God, we do what he wants us to do. We obey his Word because we trust God to do the best thing for us. He can even use the bad things that happen to us and our mistakes for his own good to make us into the people he wants us to be.

God loves you no matter what you do, but he wants your obedience. And he wants you to love others because of his love for you.

For You

You truly love others when you accept everyone, including those with physical or mental differences. Your love is real when you reach out to those who are difficult to love. So, is your love real?

Answer: b

Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.   2 John 1:6
