Q: What did Zechariah see flying through the air?
- a. a scroll
- b. horses
- c. an angel
Zechariah saw visions that included messengers reporting to God, four horns representing four world powers, a man measuring Jerusalem, dirty clothes being exchanged for clean ones, a lamp stand continually burning, a flying scroll representing God’s curse, a woman named Wickedness being sent away in a basket, and four horses and chariots representing God’s judgment. You can read about these visions in the book of Zechariah in the Bible. God used the visions to show Zechariah what was coming. God allowed Zechariah a glimpse of the future.
Sometimes people want to know what’s ahead for them. They may consult horoscopes or astrologers to get answers, but those are not real answers. God is the only one who knows what the future holds. He revealed pieces of the future to Zechariah through visions. He reveals some of the future to us through the Bible.
God doesn’t want us to be so focused on the future that we neglect to follow his plan for today. Matthew 6:33-34 says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” What is God’s advice about the future? According to these verses in Matthew 6 it’s the following:
- Seek God’s will for your life.
- Put God first every day.
- Live a godly life.
- Trust God for tomorrow’s needs.
For You
God is in control of your future. When you get up each morning, commit your day to him, and look for the things he has planned for you. Live each day for God, and the future will fall into place day by day.
Answer: a
I looked up again and saw a scroll flying through the air. “What do you see?” the angel asked. “I see a flying scroll,” I replied. “It appears to be about 30 feet long and 15 feet wide.” Zechariah 5:1-2
