Seeking God

Q: When you seek God’s will in all you do, he will

• a. grant you success.
• b. answer your prayers.
• c. show you which path to take.

Have you ever had to trust someone? A school class did a project where one student was blindfolded and a partner wasn’t. The partner who could see was responsible to lead the blindfolded partner around the school. This was to teach what it felt like to be blind. But it also taught trust. The sightless partner had to trust the other partner to get him or her safely from room to room.

Proverbs 3:5 says to “trust in the LORD with all your heart.” If you know God well, you’ll feel confident trusting God in all areas of life because you’ll feel his presence and know he’s looking out for you. When you trust him, you learn that God is better able to lead you than you are when you choose your own way.

That doesn’t mean God didn’t give you the ability to reason and make decisions, but that he wants you to talk to him about these decisions and to use the Bible as your guide.

What happens when you trust God and seek his will in all you do? He’ll show you which path to take. Just as we need a map to guide us down unfamiliar roads, we need God’s guidance and his Word to guide us through life.

For You

Try playing the blindfold game. Blindfold yourself and have someone lead you around your house and your neighborhood. Then decide, did you trust your partner? How did your trust or lack of trust of your partner affect your willingness to be guided by him or her? Remember that you can always trust God to lead you down the right path.
