Pharaoh’s Dreams

Pharaoh’s Dreams

Q: What animals did Pharaoh see in his dream?

  • a. cows
  • b. pigs
  • c. vipers

Joseph was in prison because Mrs. Potiphar lied, but God blessed Joseph. The prison warden noticed Joseph’s good character and put him in charge of the other prisoners.

One day two prisoners had dreams. God told Joseph what the dreams meant, and Joseph told the prisoners. One of the prisoners was released. He forgot how Joseph had told him what his dream meant—until Pharaoh had two dreams no one could explain. Then the man told Pharaoh about Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams.

Pharaoh sent for Joseph and told him about the dreams. In the first dream, seven fat cows were grazing. Seven sickly looking cows ate them. In the second dream, seven full heads of grain were growing on a single stalk. Seven shriveled heads of grain ate the seven healthy heads of grain.

God told Joseph the dreams meant there would be seven years when crops would grow well and food would be plentiful. Then there would be seven years of famine when food would be scarce.

Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of gathering and storing food during the plentiful years so there would be enough during the famine. Again God gave Joseph success; the people in his land had food, while the people in other countries didn’t. They had to travel to buy food from Joseph.

In good times and bad, God was with Joseph and gave him success in all he did.

Answer: a

In his dream [Pharaoh] saw seven fat, healthy cows come up out of the river and begin grazing in the marsh grass. Then he saw seven more cows come up behind them from the Nile, but these were scrawny and thin. These cows stood beside the fat cows on the riverbank. Then the scrawny, thin cows ate the seven healthy, fat cows!   Genesis 41:2-4
