New Life

In the winter, things seem gray and dreary. It gets dark earlier in the day, snow becomes dirty and turns to slush, trees are bare, and flowers are no longer in bloom. But then in the spring, things change. There’s more daylight. Flowers bud and bloom, adding dashes of color to the world. Leaves grow on the trees, adding green to the bare branches. The dreariness of winter is replaced by the new life that arrives in spring.

Our lives are like that too. Before Jesus, our lives are full of sin. But once we accept Jesus as Savior, everything is new. Our sins are forgiven, and we become the children of God. It’s not just a new start. We are new creations of God on the inside. Our hearts are remade.

Why do we become new in Jesus? Paul wrote, “We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10). God has a plan for each of us, but we can’t live out that plan until we have turned to Jesus and God has done his powerful work of remaking us.

If you haven’t let Jesus have your heart and life, talk to someone about that today. If you’ve become a new creation in Jesus, seek out God’s plan for your life.
