Jesus’ Plan

Q: In the book of Revelation Jesus says, “I am making everything _____.”

One day the earth we know will no longer exist because Jesus will set up his Kingdom on earth. He will make a new heaven, a new earth, and a New Jerusalem where God will dwell with his people.

John saw a vision of that New Jerusalem. The city didn’t have a temple, because God himself lived there, so there was no need for a temple. There was no need for light because God was the light. The city gates were never shut, because there was no night, and no evil ever entered it.

John witnessed all the events in Revelation and wrote them down to encourage the churches of his time that were facing persecution and to tell Christians centuries later that someday we will live with God forever.

The Bible began in Genesis with the account of God creating the world and filling it with light and life. The Bible ends with the book of Revelation, where God creates a new heaven and a new earth. The beautiful Garden of Eden was destroyed when sin entered it, but there will be no sin in the paradise God will create, a paradise where he will dwell among men and women again.

The book of Revelation shows that no matter what happens on earth, God is always in control. We can keep living for God when times are tough, because we know that he is Lord over all.

For You

When things get difficult, and it’s hard to stand up for what you believe, remind yourself that Jesus is Lord over all. He has a plan to carry out his work on earth until he returns, and you are an amazing part of that plan. Ask God to show you what he wants you to do each day to live out the special plan for your life.
