Wipe Away Every Tear

[God] will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.

Revelation 21:4

CAN YOU IMAGINE a world without “death or sorrow or crying or pain”? Most of us can’t. Those problems are such daily realities in most of our lives that to imagine a world without such things seems a stretch.

Yet that’s what God promises. One day, we will enter heaven, where we will find true completion and unity with God. Jesus will personally wipe our tears away, whether we’ve cried many or few during our time on earth. He will lead us into a place where unhappiness, hatred, rejection, failure, and fear will never reign again.

Can you imagine it? Perhaps not, but you can keep your mind and heart focused on the truth of the above verse and those like it. God’s promise is that this place we live in, this “vale of tears,” will not be like that forever. The situations that cause us to weep and wail and hurt now can also cause us to turn to God for the real hope, the kind of hope that lasts and will ultimately come true.

Trust him about all those troubles you may be facing right now. You may be weeping, feeling there is no way you’ll ever be happy again, but you can trust the promise that one day all of that will be behind you. What is ahead can’t be anything less than a marvel.
