Pray About Everything
Pray about Everything
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
“I DON’T WANT to alarm you, but we need to send your son to the ER—now,” the pediatrician told Darlene after he’d found her ten-day-old infant’s heart racing at twice the normal rate.
At the hospital, Darlene comforted her tiny baby while the ER doctors unsuccessfully tried to get an IV line into his tiny hands and arms and then into his bald head. She stayed with him through every invasive attempt.
“Are you okay with this?” several nurses asked. “You seem very calm for a first-time mom. . . .”
“Amazingly, I was calm,” Darlene recalls, realizing that any new mom could have understandably been freaking out. “I had a peace that even I couldn’t understand. Probably because with every needle jab and electrode attachment, I was praying.”
Perhaps you can relate to that unexplainable peace. Maybe you’ve gone through a family illness and felt unexpectedly buoyed. Perhaps you’ve gone through a heartbreaking situation and survived better than you thought you would.
What a precious invitation and promise in these verses! First God invites us to take all our concerns to him—whether minor or major. Then he promises to give us that peace that’s so deep, so unexpected, and so unexplainable!
Want peace? Tell the Lord all your concerns.
