Power In Weakness

[God] said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

CLARA WAS EXPERIENCING a strange mix of emotions. On one hand, she was in a hospital bed, hardly able to bear the pain and to breathe. But she was also enjoying her interaction with others as she witnessed to several nurses and attendants. While she rested, she read her Bible. Some of those who came into her room asked her why she read it, which gave her another chance to explain why she believed in Jesus.

She almost felt as if those weeks in a hospital bed were the most fruitful of her life. When she discovered these Scripture verses written by Paul, she began to understand. Coming to the end of herself, realizing she really could do nothing, made her rely on God more than ever. And others noticed that she was relying on God.

Though we don’t have to end up in a hospital bed to discover the power of God’s strength when we’re weak, he promises that if we realize our lack of ability and let him work through us, he will do so in ways we can’t imagine. Just as he did with Clara and with Paul.
