New Beginnings
New Beginnings
You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today.
Deuteronomy 11:27
JESSI WAS BEGINNING a new way of life, and she was understandably a bit nervous about it. She was moving across the country to marry a man she’d been dating—primarily long distance—for a year.
With her move would come a new home, a new job, new friends, an unfamiliar church, and a whole new way of life. Even though Jessi’s life was changing for a good reason—joining the man she loved—she wouldn’t really know what was ahead for her until she jumped into the new world.
Jessi probably could understand a bit of what the Israelites were feeling at the time of today’s Scripture verse. The Israelites were entering a new way of life in a new land, Canaan. There would be no more slavery like what they were used to in Egypt. But before they moved on, God led Moses to call them together and give them the instructions they would need for success in their new homeland.
We all go through new beginnings in life, whether a marriage, a new job, a new home, or a new social structure. But as we follow and obey the Lord, he promises to continue blessing us and being with us—even in the changes of life.
