Just Ask

Just Ask

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

James 1:5

“I JUST DON’T understand what the teacher is trying to tell us,” the fourth grader explained with panic in his voice when his mom studied his report card and asked about his low grades.

“Well, have you told your teacher when you don’t understand what she’s saying?”

“No,” the boy replied. “I’m afraid she’ll think I’m talking back to her. I don’t want to get into trouble.”

The next day, the boy, his mom, and the teacher sat down together, and the teacher explained that she welcomed questions—that he would never get in trouble for requesting help.

Have you ever faced a situation that was over your head and made you feel a little panicky? Maybe today you have too much month or mortgage at the end of your money. Maybe you’re facing difficult health issues. Perhaps you’re going through a relationship problem.

Like any good teacher, God delights in helping us, his pupils, learn. He loves to reveal his wisdom to us. He doesn’t expect us to know everything on our own; he welcomes our questions and promises to give us the answers we need.
