He Died For Us
He Died for Us
Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.
Galatians 1:4
WHAT DOES IT mean when we say Jesus gave his life for our sins? Most Christians understand that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins when he died on the cross. But what exactly does “gave his life” mean? How costly was that sacrifice?
Some theologians believe that when Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (Matthew 27:46), he was experiencing the pain of separation from his Father as he took on responsibility for all the sins of humankind—including yours and mine.
Jesus paid a steep price to give you spiritual life—his own life for yours. Because he was willing to die, we have both new life here on earth and God’s promise that one day we will see and know him fully for all eternity when we go to heaven.
Have you claimed the promise of the life Jesus came to give? He also came to give you entry into heaven, where you will experience an unbelievably great time for all eternity. No one else in history could have made that possible.
Jesus also came to make your present life better, full of peace and joy. You don’t have to be overwhelmed by the challenges and difficulties and evil of this world. Instead, you can live on a higher spiritual plane because of one man: Jesus.
