God’s Faithfulness
God’s Faithfulness
Your unfailing love will last forever. Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.
Psalm 89:2
SOME PEOPLE FEAR that God might change someday. He could cease to care about his people, get bored, and decide to start over with a whole new creation. Or his love might dry up and he’ll suddenly go crazy and destroy everything because he is angry with this universe. None of this is possible. God’s Word assures us over and over that God is eternal, that he is unfailingly loving and faithful, and that he can never change.
Nonetheless, why should we believe that? Just because he says it? How many of us have been promised things by people who seem honest on the surface but then turn out to be cheats? But when it comes to God, we have several things to assure us. First, his own testimony. He says he will never change, never desert us, always love us. Second, we have the stories of the Bible. In them we see God being faithful, ever and always. Next, there is the testimony of billions of Christians. Many attest to God’s goodness. Finally, we have our own experience. Have we found him faithful in our own lives?
For many, such proofs are more than convincing. But if you need more, go to God. Ask him to show you his love and goodness. He promises to be faithful.
