God Never Forsakes His People
God Never Forsakes His People
Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.
Psalm 37:25
SOMETIMES IT’S WISE to take an assessment of how God blesses Christians in this world. Missionaries often report that even in the worst areas of the world—where war, injustice, tyranny, and slavery are rampant—the Christians often find their needs met in unusual and even miraculous ways. While persecution is rife and many have died for the faith, those who remain firm find that God is there through it all and that their trust yields great dividends as they see him work in their lives and answer their prayers.
One couple shared in a prayer meeting how their financial needs were met one night when a person they didn’t know arrived at their door with a cashier’s check to cover their pressing bills. The giver said only that it was “from the church.” Amazed, they came to prayer the next Wednesday with the story and new praise for God. Others began to follow their lead and trust God for their needs instead of only praying about them. They kept a running list and soon had a whole notebook full of answers that God had given them, proving the truth of these verses.
God works through his people, and the testimony of many is that God gives us just what we need to see us through. Do you trust him for that? With this great promise, you know that he will not leave you lost, bereft, without what you need.
