All Our Needs
All Our Needs
[Paul said,] “This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19
IF YOU’VE OPENED a bank account any time in recent decades, chances are good that account is insured by the FDIC—the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Like most insurance plans, the FDIC is essentially a safety net. If your bank fails or is the victim of fraud, your accounts will be covered and reimbursed by the federal government, up to a certain limit on each account.
In this way, the FDIC provides a critical service for both the banking industry and individual account holders. Banks can remain focused on serving customers because of the protections offered by the FDIC. Individual account holders can feel secure when they entrust their hard-earned money to a bank because they know that bank is supported by another corporation with a huge supply of resources.
In today’s verse, we’re promised that God will supply all our needs—and that’s a wonderful guarantee. That’s cause for us to feel joy and contentment and satisfaction in our journey through this life. We don’t have to struggle on our own! We don’t have to depend on ourselves to provide what we need—what our families need. We’re covered.
Best of all, we have far greater insurance available to us than any government entity could offer. Instead of the FDIC, we’re insured by God’s “glorious riches.” We’re covered by the Creator of the universe, and we’ve been given access to his wondrous resources because of what Christ did for us on the cross.
