Through Him

Through Him

All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.

John 1:3 (AMP)

I have a beautiful quilt that lays over the back of my sofa. My aunt Sandy made it for me, and every time I wrap it around my shoulders I consider her creative design. What was once imagined in her mind now keeps me warm. What took form under her fingers is a beautiful display. It would be foolish for a visitor at my home to walk in and believe the quilt took shape on its own, that fabric scraps in a store pressed against each other randomly and by chance became the intricate design.

As I read through this week’s Budget newspaper, evidence of God’s creation is on every page. Amish scribes from all over the country write about warm weather forecasts, the rain, the crops, and vegetable auctions, among other things. Like an intricately designed quilt, a week on an Amish farm is a beautiful display of God’s design. An Amish couple are the threads that stitch together the bounty of nature and the needs of their home. It would be foolish to say that they do this without God’s plan, God’s design, and God’s hand. Inspiration and creative thought are intangibles, but they are seen in what is tangible. Proverbs 8:29-31 says: “I [Wisdom] was there when he set the limits of the seas, so they would not spread beyond their boundaries. And when he marked off the earth’s foundations, I was the architect at his side. I was his constant delight, rejoicing always in his presence. And how happy I was with the world he created; how I rejoiced with the human family!”

Do you hear Jesus’ love for His creation in those words? Ask Him to open your eyes to how He’s stitching together your world today.

Dear heavenly Father, I thank You that You who are unseen are so beautifully seen in all that’s seen. May I see You more clearly as the great Architect in my life.
