Day 46
Day 46
Exodus 39:1–40:38; Mark 1:1-28; Psalm 35:1-16; Proverbs 9:11-12
WE HAD THE beautiful chance to start the story of our Savior over today, as we began the Gospel of Mark. Most scholars agree that Mark is the earliest of the Gospels, and it gives us a wonderful chance to hear how the story was first told.
Even as we began the Gospel of Mark, we also concluded the book of Exodus; the clothing outlined by God for the priesthood was made, the Tabernacle was completed, and the glory of the Lord filled it.
Yesterday in Proverbs, we were told that holding God in awe and respect is where wisdom begins. But this is not the end of wisdom —it’s only the beginning. Today, we saw how wisdom touches our lives if we honor God and continue forward by listening to Wisdom’s voice: “Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer” (Proverbs 9:11-12).
Proverbs gives us a stark choice —as it is prone to do. Once again, the Bible reveals our personal responsibility and the weightiness of our choices. If we will begin by honoring God, we will have taken the first and fundamental step toward living a wise life. If we will continue to honor the voice of Wisdom and obey, we will be the ones to benefit. It will even extend our lives! Conversely, if we ignore it, we will reap exactly what we sow.
Honor God today in all you do, say, and think. If you do, today will be a wise day. String a series of wise days together, and you will be walking in wisdom. Make a lifestyle of it, and you will be wise. The benefits will be self-evident.
WORSHIP:
I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be glad because he rescues me. With every bone in my body I will praise him: “LORD, who can compare with you? Who else rescues the helpless from the strong?”
