Love Hates Evil And Clings To Good
LOVE HATES EVIL AND CLINGS TO GOOD
Begin by quieting your body and mind, remembering you are in God’s loving presence. Open your hands to reflect with your body your desire for a heart that’s open to whatever he has for you today. Spend a minute in silence.
Read Romans 12:9-21 (see page 250)
Reflect
Love calls us to turn from evil—to run to what is noble, lovely, true, right, and pure. When the broken parts of us seek out solace in deception, lust, greed, or fear, love says, “Cling to the good. Lift up your eyes. Don’t get dragged down. You know what’s true. You know what’s right. Run to the good.”
- What relationships come to mind when you reflect on the refrain “Cling to the good. Lift up your eyes. Don’t get dragged down. You know what’s true. You know what’s right. Run to the good”? Why? Ask God to help you understand what he might be inviting you to see or do.
- How might purposefully seeking out good and focusing your mind on what is noble, lovely, true, right, and pure cultivate your desire and ability to overcome temptation?
- What most frequently keeps you from being able to cling to what is good and turn away from less noble and pure desires?
Respond
Father, you are love. Jesus, you are love. Holy Spirit, you are love.
Shape me into the image of love, and lead me in the way of love. Amen.
