Powerful Love

Powerful Love

No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:39

Have you ever read a story in the newspaper or heard one on TV about a parent who did something extraordinary to save a child who was in danger, such as lifting a car to free a trapped child or fighting a wild animal to rescue a son or daughter? That’s how strong a parent’s love is. This love causes moms and dads to desire the best for their children and to protect them at all cost. Now think about the fact that as much as a parent loves a child and wants to protect him or her, your heavenly Father loves you more. His love is even stronger and more powerful than a parent’s love.

God’s love is not only strong but also unconditional. That means he loves you no matter what you do. He loves you when you say something nice to a brother or sister, and he loves you when you say something mean. God’s love for you doesn’t depend on what you do. God loves you because of who he is. First John 4:10 says, “This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” God loved us so much that before we were even born, he sent his Son to die on the cross for our sins. His love for you is eternal. His kind of love never goes away; it never ends. God’s love is with you whether you’re celebrating or crying. It’s with you when you’re victorious or when you’re being tempted. It’s with you during your happiest times and during your toughest tests. God’s love is with you 24-7.

You can live confidently today because God’s love will never let you go.

Read 1 John 4. List the things it says about love. How can you apply them to your life today?
