Peace For God’s Princesses
Peace for God’s Princesses
[Jesus said,] “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
John 14:27
Think of all the gifts you’ve ever been given. Does one stand out as your favorite? Did you receive a gift that was more special than the others? You may have gotten something you’d wanted for a long time. Or maybe you got something you really needed. Jesus gave his disciples a gift he knew they’d need, and it was something only he could give them. That gift was peace.
When Jesus told his disciples they’d have peace, he didn’t mean they wouldn’t face any hard times or trouble. He knew they would. The peace he offered them was a knowledge in their minds and a feeling in their hearts no matter what was going on around them. Jesus knew his disciples would face hard times. They would suffer for preaching about him. Some would even be killed for their faith. But that didn’t change their confidence in God and their confidence that God would use everything that happened to spread his good news.
As one of God’s princesses, you can have that same peace. It’s the peace that allows you to walk with your head held high—because you belong to your heavenly King—no matter what is happening around you. If someone is teasing you, peace reminds you that God loves you. If you’re worried about tomorrow’s math test, peace lets you know that God is always with you.
So how can you receive this special gift? Peace comes from having a relationship with Jesus. If you have asked Jesus to forgive your sins and you’ve made a decision to live for him, you can experience his peace.
Write today’s verse on a card or piece of paper and put it where you can see it often (like your bathroom mirror or above the light switch in your room). Ask God to give you his peace to get you through any tough times you are facing this week.
