Prayer For The Discouraged

Psalm 42:5-6, 8

Why am I discouraged?

Why is my heart so sad?

I will put my hope in God!

I will praise him again—

my Savior and my God! . . .

Each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me,

and through each night I sing his songs,

praying to God who gives me life.

Wonderful Counselor, when I think back to the low points in my life, I’m thankful that your Word encouraged me and helped hoist me out of slippery pits. One time in particular, I felt prompted by you to get away for a day with my Bible and meditate. If I hadn’t sought help from you, I shudder to think of how different my life might be today. Thank you, God, for directing me to turn to you.
