Pastors And Leaders
Pastors and Leaders
DEAR GOD, today is Sunday. For generations, it’s been known as “the Lord’s Day.” As usual, I will attend a worship service at my church and be led by those you have called into the work of ministry. In 1 Timothy 3:1, the apostle Paul uses an appropriate word—honorable—to describe this calling: “This is a trustworthy saying: ‘If someone aspires to be a church leader, he desires an honorable position.’” Sunday is the day of the week when I see our pastors and leaders, though I know they toil behind the scenes countless other hours as well. At times, our leaders must be exhausted from the ongoing demands of caring for your people. And church congregations can be fickle, sometimes holding higher expectations than any leader can live up to.
On this your day, Lord, please encourage, empower, and energize these special people. Please give them multiple blessings as they extend themselves to bless others. May you enrich their families and marriages, provide for their financial needs, and protect them from adversity. Please give them wisdom and guidance in ministering your Word. Please fill them with the power and might of your Holy Spirit, and use them to accomplish all you intend. For Jesus’ sake, amen.
