Caregiving

Caregiving

COMPASSIONATE JESUS, whenever I read about your gentleness, tenderness, and compassion in the Bible, I’m deeply moved. You noticed a man with a deformed hand, and you restored it. You saw the hungry crowds, and you fed them. You touched a leper, and his leprosy disappeared. You gave sight to a blind man and revealed to him that you are the Son of God. What a kind and caring Savior you are! In this responsibility I am now undertaking, I need more of your gentle and kind ways, Lord.

In 1 Corinthians 12, you mention specific gifts you give to your children, all of them intended to help others. I’m grateful for the patient service of people who’ve helped my extended family. Thank you for bringing these people alongside us at just the right times.

Lord, as I care for the people around me who need help—whether it be a child, a person with special needs, or a loved one who is ill—please fill me with your strength and grace. May I treat the person I’m caring for in ways I would want to be treated if I were the one in need.
