Blended Families

HEAVENLY FATHER, I come to you with blended families on my heart. Whether it’s the blending of a treasured child with adoptive parents, a child who is being raised by either grandparents or a family friend, or second marriages combining new children or new spouses, blended families face all of the usual challenges of a family, plus a few extras.

Please give these friends wisdom and understanding, especially as each member of their family adjusts to new roles. May they relate to each other with patience and kindness, and speak the truth in love. Help them avoid passive or aggressive attitudes, choosing instead to discuss their feelings and concerns in respectful ways that honor each family member involved.

Please provide healing, over time, for unpleasant memories of the past that sometimes collide with things in the present. When they need fresh vision and helpful perspectives, please lead them to wise counselors. And Father, kindly knit their hearts together as only you can. For all this, we offer you great thanks.
