Psalm 42:1-2

Psalm 42:1-2

As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him?

One of the beautiful things about the Psalms is that they give fresh language to help us as we pray. When you don’t know what to pray, the Psalms are a great place to start. Slowly recite the verses above as a prayer to God. If the words don’t resonate with you, ask God to give you a longing and a thirst for him. Reflect on what you use to try to quench your spiritual thirst instead of looking to him to meet this need. In what ways would you like to see the Lord satisfy your deepest desires for his presence in your life?
