Proverbs 17:22

Proverbs 17:22

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.

The mission of Satan, God’s enemy and the enemy of our souls, is to kill, steal, and destroy everything good in our lives—especially our joy. But joy provides essential nourishment and healing for the heart; it can even transform our adversities into occasions of gratitude and celebration. Having a cheerful heart doesn’t mean ignoring pain or sadness. It is choosing an attitude of appreciation and confident hope—despite our circumstances. What is one good gift you can thank God for today?
