Mark 2:14

Follow me and be my disciple.

Jesus spoke these words to Levi (also known as Matthew), a despised tax collector. Imagine everyone’s shock when Jesus invited Levi to follow him and become one of his disciples. Jesus’ invitation for relationship is for everyone, no matter what they have done or what their reputation is. Those who appear least deserving are the very ones Jesus seems to give special attention to. This verse encourages us not only to follow Jesus but also to follow his example of pursuing those who are in deep need of love and acceptance. What person in your life would Jesus give special attention to? How might the Holy Spirit be encouraging you to follow Jesus in this specific way?
