Too Young for God to Use?

“O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”

The LORD replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.”

Jeremiah 1:6-7

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

1 Timothy 4:12

O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.

Psalm 8:1-2

“Must be four feet tall to ride,” says the sign at the entrance to the best roller coaster at the amusement park. When we’re young, it can sometimes seem like we’ll never be old enough to get to do the cool stuff. But we are never too young to use whatever gifts, talents, and opportunities God has given us to tell other people who he is and what he’s doing in our lives. We’re never too young to reach out and love others or speak up about the love of God. We might think we don’t have the experience we need or the ability to do it like someone else. Or we might be afraid of being criticized or judged harshly. But when the Holy Spirit calls us to do something for him and confirms it through godly people in our lives, we can be confident that he will give us what we need in order to do what he has called us to do. Not only that, but he’ll also be right with us, giving us the courage we need, no matter what people say or think.

God has made you for a purpose. His purpose. And you don’t have to wait until you are educated enough or experienced enough to start serving him. No one else sees the world the way you do, and no one else has the unique combination of gifts you have. God has designed you uniquely to be an extension of his work in the world.
