Especially The Believers

Especially The Believers

Why do we call the people we go to church with “our church family”?

How can we show love for other Christians?

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Galatians 6:10

In this verse from Galatians, Paul writes that believers are supposed to “do good to all people.” This means that we are to show God’s love to everyone we encounter. The verse then says, “especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

This doesn’t mean that we are supposed to show care only for Christians, but it does mean that we are to recognize that the church is a family of believers. We are supposed to function as a family, supporting one another, helping one another and loving one another.

When we function as a family, we as individuals are better able to serve and help people outside of this family of believers. We make each other stronger and better equipped to “do good to all people.” But the goodness needs to start at home, with the family, so that we will be strong enough to take that goodness out into the world.

PRAYER

Dear God, thank you for your instructions. Please help us to remember to take care of one another and to function like a family of believers. Amen.
