Big Rewards

What work do you do? At home? In school? In church? In the community?

Why is it dangerous to be lazy?

Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth. He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.

Proverbs 10:4–5

God rewards hard work. God does not reward laziness. In fact, although poverty is not always caused by it, laziness can make a person poor.

These verses from Proverbs apply to people of all ages. No matter what age we are, God wants us to have a healthy work ethic. While a child may not leave the house every morning to go to the office, they still have a job to do. There is always work to be done at home, at school, in the community and in church.

God rewards all kinds of work in many different ways. One reward we get from hard work is a good habit. When we work hard, we develop good work habits, and these will serve us well for the rest of our lives. Solid work habits glorify God, allow us to provide for ourselves and our families, and help others.

Dear God, please help us to be motivated to work hard for you. Please bless our efforts, whatever our work may be. Amen.
