Mom Heart Moments #77
While we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
HOW I TREASURE THE GIFTS OF time I’ve had with my children! Thanks to having three older ones before Joy came along, I knew that my wide-open window into her heart was going to close sooner than I could imagine. The fact that her older brothers and sister had made it through our household and still loved us and loved the Lord gave me grace, freedom, and peace in the midst of her varied days, since I knew all would turn out well. I didn’t worry about the result; I just enjoyed the time we had, knowing God would be at work.
It is wonderful to see her grow and stretch her wings.
She is currently studying for her doctorate in another country, and as she matures, I am becoming a guide as she builds on the foundation she has been given. But I also know her movement in that direction has provided me with another adult best friend. So even though I hate the thought of her growing up, I love the idea of seeing her flourish and spread her wings to carry off and share the messages of her heart and mind —and to build that legacy, hopefully, into the lives of her own children, that the baton of righteousness may be passed on faithfully to my grandchildren.
Today will bring highs and lows, difficulties and joys. There are tasks to be completed and deadlines to meet, meals to make and laundry to wash. But my day is more than a to-do list; it is an opportunity. How will I spend these twenty-four hours? The choice, to quite an extent, is mine.
Do you see each day as an opportunity to do good to all people? How can you especially seek to do good to those actually living in your own household?
