Mom Heart Moments #53

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.

IF SOMEONE WANTS TO REACH MY HEART, I need them to accept me for who I am. When I know they do that, I am much more likely to befriend them and draw close to them. However, if someone is critical of me and I always feel judged, I find myself avoiding that person.

Knowing I am best reached through the love and acceptance of others helps me understand my own children and their responses to my behavior and words. A legacy of good, kind, restoring, encouraging words will build souls and create memories of love, which sink into their very being. Conversely, words of complaint and condemnation drive our children, spouse, friends, and others far from us. We must choose and build the kind of legacy we want to have.

The same principle applies in friendship, ministry, marriage, and work. We can choose to be a blessing and sow seeds of faith in the lives of those God has brought into our lives, or we can sow death to our relationships.

I have been finding that the more I seek to sow words of life, to take initiative to really tell people how much I love and appreciate them, to give words of life, the more my own heart has grown in love and in peace and acceptance of them and of myself. In all areas of life, when I obey God, I eventually become blessed. How patient a Father He is! How wise are His ways in my life.

Do you sustain the weary with your words? Do you seek to be patient with sleepy toddlers, an awkward and frustrated teen, a weary and overloaded husband, a depressed and discouraged friend? Are your words a fountain of hope and righteousness or death and discouragement?
