Mom Heart Moments #50
Mom Heart Moments #50
They are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.
IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND that once a man and woman commit to getting married, that marriage becomes God’s will in their lives. It becomes the place they will live out their faith and faithfulness, regardless of how foolish a match it was to begin with. It is to become a place for grace.
When a man and woman get married, they begin writing a brand-new story that has never been told before. It will be their heritage —the way they love each other, the way they live before God, the children they bring into the world, the homes they build, the impact they have on history, the stand they take for God and His Kingdom. The wedding day is potentially the beginning of a great epic. The tale that is written, of course, will not just be about the two —there are children, aunts, uncles, cousins, and more, both present and future, who will be affected by the quality and soundness and vision of a marriage and the choices the husband and wife make.
We have to choose not to give our children a legacy of compromise, disloyalty, and brokenness, and that choice will not be without cost. The way a husband and wife treat each other has a direct effect on how a child builds his or her internal sense of being. And the stability of the home affects a child’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual health to an infinite degree.
While many promote a do-what-makes-you-happy ethic these days, the truth of God’s Word is timeless. He intended marriage to be for life, and we honor Him when we honor the covenant we’ve made.
Today, pray for yourself and your family. Ask God to help you honor your commitments.
