Mom Heart Moments #363

Mom Heart Moments #363

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.

Psalm 1:1-2

DISCIPLESHIP IS NEVER OVER. This past holiday, I made it a point to sequester each child to pour in vision and encouragement because I know how short my time with them is. I reminded them of the words of Psalm 1, and then over coffee and laughter, we shared our hearts, and I reminded them again to listen for the still, small voice and to seek the holy way above the distractions of life, to seek to see His fingerprints.

My family truly fills my cup, blesses me, and renews my own courage and faith because I want to be as strong as they believe that I am. Sometimes when I am exhausted, like now, and have lived through a looonnnnggggg year of trials, I am tempted to compromise my ideals —just a little here and there, in ways perhaps no one would notice.

But that is not His way, and I do not want to capitulate to the ways of weariness. As I served my children, I felt called to a higher standard just by hearing them talk and dream and idealize. Those I have served are now serving me and exhorting me to hold fast and stay the course!

And so, the next few days, I must follow the advice I gave to them for myself. I am about to put away the phone, go away by myself for two nights, and spend time before the Lord.

Here are the questions I’m asking. Maybe you want to use them too. “Lord, what work do You have for me this year? How can I serve Your purposes? What do I need to correct? How can I better serve You? Shine the light of Your life onto all the hidden places of my heart, and let me give all of them to You.”
