Mom Heart Moments #346
Mom Heart Moments #346
When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the LORD.
IF A CHILD IS GIVEN AN ICE-CREAM CONE and starts running and wrestling with his brother, the likelihood that he is going to drop his cone in the confusion is high. The child is acting foolishly. Can the act be forgiven? Of course! The act can be forgiven, but the consequence will remain.
If a car is speeding down the road at ninety miles per hour in the snow and suddenly hits a patch of ice and skids out of control, it is likely the car will crash. The unwise, imprudent choice of driving too fast in the snow has consequences.
How often I see people shaking their fists at heaven, at God Himself, asking why they have been treated so unjustly. They are strapped financially, or unhappily married, or in the midst of relational turmoil. Often, these people have found themselves in a pickle of their own making —they used credit cards too much, or married an unbeliever against the advice of their parents, or have conflict with someone and are unwilling to extend forgiveness and leave bitterness behind.
How important it is for us as believers to understand that choices have consequences! If someone makes an unwise decision, havoc of some kind will probably result. One cannot expect to make a practice of acting foolishly and not have repercussions from his or her bad judgment.
God, our merciful Father, will indeed be with us and love us and guide us through the consequences of our choices. But He teaches us by letting the lessons remain, helping us learn to make wiser choices and obey Him the next time. We must learn to be humble, to repent and to ask for His wisdom, in order to benefit from His desire to bless us.
Are there areas in which you are suffering the consequences of unwise choices? Repent, and ask the Lord to teach you what He wants you to learn. Determine to seek His wisdom in the future.
