Mom Heart Moments #286
Mom Heart Moments #286
It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.
A CUP OF COFFEE AT THE NEARBY CAFÉ was a favorite treat when we lived in Austria. It was served on a table with flowers, in a china cup with a little spoon to stir with and a little glass of water to chase it down. I wish there was such a café down the street now!
Do you ever feel as if everyone wants something of you and more is demanded of you than you can possibly give? Motherhood has a gazillion days like that. Today is another one for me.
There are issues within, issues without, people wanting me to return calls, people I know I should call —and so, today, I am easing into my schedule. Taking a deep breath and figuring out how to manage this life so I can last. I must plan strategically about what I can reasonably hope to accomplish in the next few months and still be alive!
To add a few little pleasures into my day, I am going to
- have a white chocolate cappuccino —just because I want one;
- walk on the trails near our home to expel some adrenaline;
- sneak into my bedroom, close the doors, light candles, put on some music, and just gaze out the window and sort out what is in my heart.
Of course, I will spend most of my day getting things done; there are lots of piles to deal with. I will take it all at a casual pace instead of breakneck speed, as whatever is unfinished will be waiting for me tomorrow.
I think some days are days for grace. Be kind to yourself. Put beauty into your day. Turn on some music. Kiss a few people and hug them. Dance to music as you wash the dishes. Get a cup of coffee with an extra shot. Eat at least one square of dark chocolate. Peace be yours today —the Lord is near.
