Mom Heart Moments #284

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? . . . Even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day.

Psalm 139:7, 12

EYES WIDE AND ATTEMPTING A SMILE, my dear friend was making a noble attempt to greet me with a cheerful heart. Time with friends usually far away is a gift, and she didn’t want to waste any of it through sadness.

Embracing her, I whispered, “You are so very dear to me and to the Lord. He loves you more than you will ever know. He sees you, He is with you, and He will hold you and guide you.”

Tears filled her eyes and burst over her dark eyelashes as she whispered, “I feel so lost. I can’t find my old self anymore. I don’t know how to come back to the light.”

“You feel lost, but God is not lost, and He has not lost you. Just wait and be still, and in time the light will come gently pouring into your heart once again,” I whispered with as much love as I could pour into her darkness.

God’s ways are always best and bring joy, beauty, and life when they come to completion. He enters into our grief and frustrations, and He grieves with us when we are brokenhearted in the meantime. As a loving Father, He must interfere with our expectations that we can find true joy and happiness in this world if we are just able to control it enough.

We are all so shortsighted and limited, being held fast by this earth, that God has to pry our hands free from our strong clutches on this world, to force us to look more astutely toward eternity, where we will finally live forever and ever in His true light.

Do you need the reminder today that God is not lost, and neither are you? Take a moment to breathe in deeply and ask Him to show you the way.
