Mom Heart Moments #263

Which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?

Luke 14:28

THE PROBLEM WITH KNOWING we as mothers are called to build a heritage of godly leaders right in our own homes is that most of us have had no training, preparation, or education to prepare us for what it would take or how much it would cost! Most of us just got married with the hope that someone would love and take care of us, providing security and affirmation . . . and then babies came and overwhelmed us. We had never been trained for this job, had perhaps not seen it modeled well as we grew up, and were never given a vision for how powerful a family that stood for God could be, or how much work it would take to build.

So, overwhelmed women who have never had the opportunity to build a plan for this vision may find themselves up to their eyeballs in details and duties and caring for babies without sufficient support, input, accountability, or help from experienced women who have built godly legacies. This is the greatest job in the world, one that will indeed influence what our nation becomes. It’s worth investing time and effort to help prepare these precious and significant moms for how to do it.

Satan would love nothing more than for us to continue minimizing the importance of deeply investing our time and lives into the minds, hearts, souls, and training of our children, because he knows they are essential to bringing the Kingdom of God to bear in their generation.

Today, step aside from life for a bit and check what you are building. Simplify your plan, and focus on the essentials: the rhythms that need to be established to get the work done. Cut out expenditures of time and energy and money that are not necessary to the overall building, and be sure to plan for rest every week along the way.
