Mom Heart Moments #255
Mom Heart Moments #255
You shall walk in all the way which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you.
AFTER A WONDERFUL WEEKEND OF speaking many hours to a sweet group of moms in Tennessee, I was spent. It wasn’t just the weekend’s busyness but the cumulative weariness that just seems to come with some seasons of life.
My heart, though, was full of excitement, because my borrowed car was headed to the home of my forever sister-friend, Gwen, where I knew that God lived.
After sleeping for nine hours (unheard of for me!), I awoke and crept through the rooms to find Gwen in her quiet time chair —candle lit, Bible in hand, cup of coffee steaming. “Curl up in my bed, and I will pour you a cup of tea, and we will be friends,” she whispered, gently wrapping her blankets around my shoulders and fluffing up the pillows.
A beautiful little candlelit tray came to rest near the bed, and life and beauty took place as we talked.
“Why are we so blessed? What shaped our lives so we have been able to live purposefully, seeing dramatic answers to prayer and God’s Spirit swirling amongst the events of our lives? Why, in spite of the battles, do we see God’s favor?”
She showed me a poem by an unknown author that she had copied into her Bible many years ago,
I heard Him call, “Come follow.”
That was all.
My gold grew dim, my soul went after Him.
Who would not follow IF they heard Him call.
That was it. The secret. At an early age, we were both challenged to follow Him, to listen for His voice, simply to follow Him. And so we bowed our hearts before Him that morning, thanking Him for the miracle of the lives He has allowed us to live.
God has such good plans to be with you through all the seasons of your life. Today, commit yourself again to His hands, as well as His plan.
