Mom Heart Moments #243

We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10, NLT

IT IS SIMPLE TO SEE ALL THE FLAWS in my children and myself. And it would be easy for me to take the blame for my children’s failures, since I am their mother and responsible for training them! However, rather than focusing on the bad, it’s more beneficial to focus on faith and the potential someday to be realized after years of praying and seeing God work. It’s better to have faith that God can take my honest offering of steadfastness and hope.

He will make up for my deficits. Though I don’t understand why bad things happen, He is stronger and bigger than all the “bad,” and in His time, He will redeem it all. Faith must be in His power and not my own. Rather than focusing on my own lack of strength, I trust His ability to reach my children. Giving Him my best, I leave the results in His hands, waiting for His timing. This relinquishing happens one minute at a time —one detail of my life at a time.

When the enemy convinces us that our concentration should be placed on what is lacking in our lives, our personality flaws, our family’s difficult places, we become unable to affect the world in a positive way. And that is a terrible loss, indeed.

Do you know that you, too, are a beautiful masterpiece crafted by a talented Artist? (Read the verse again!) How does that knowledge affect the way you see yourself? Now look at what you were created anew for —so you can do good things planned long ago. Take some time to consider yourself in light of the needs around you —and the possibility that you’ve been created to meet them.
