When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?

THERE ARE SO MANY THROUGHOUT history who would say, “It can’t be done” or “You’ll never make it” or “At this time in our culture, you just can’t expect anyone to live a holy life.” And of course, a million other negative outlooks on every situation can be expressed.

These are some of the things naysayers have said to me:

• “You just may not be the type to get married.” Clay and I were married when I was twenty-eight.
• “You may not be able to have children.” We have four.
• “If you start your own ministry or business, you will most likely fail financially as others do and go under. It just isn’t the wisest thing to do.” We went four and a half years without a salary, shopped at Goodwill for many things, and by God’s grace we got WholeHeart and WholeHeart Press up and running —as it has been for over two decades now.
• “Homeschooling is too hard. You will never be able to do it, especially not the high school years.” We made it all the way through with each one.
• “You will never teach this one to read.” That child now reads constantly.
• “He will lose his faith for sure. Look at the people he is running around with.” No, he didn’t. He actually loves God so very much and has a heart for those who are lost.

Satan would just love for us to give up on our ideals, on our marriages, on our families, on our kids, on our churches, on ourselves. Now, I did have my days of doubt, and pathways of darkness, but God kept reminding me of faith and hard work and trusting Him. We are so very glad we did not listen to the voices.

Don’t listen.
