Mom Heart Moments #119

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”

SOMETIMES WHEN my two girls and I get together, we share our dreams for the future. It can be a bittersweet time for me to listen to their hearts, as I know we all have dreams that have not yet come true. But how precious it was to hold in my memory this time when hearts were open and deepest desires shared.

A sweet mama in tears once asked me, “How long do you keep praying for your dreams to come true, and when do you quit and accept God’s response as no?”

Well, I can’t answer God’s will for her life, but the older I get, the more childlike I seek to be. There is a temptation in life to become jaded and lose hope. Yet Scripture instructs us to pursue childlike (not childish) faith. When we trust His character, we can keep believing our God can do anything, and we can continue coming to Him in prayer.

So, I commit the future of our family to Him. I pray for miracles. I pray for Him to do great things in and through the lives of my children, Clay, and me. I ask Him to knock down walls and to stretch our sphere of influence —because I want everyone to know how personal, responsive, and gracious He is. I want to believe in Him and trust Him —just like a child.

Today, write down some of the things He has put on your heart to keep dreaming. Then, place them into His capable hands.
