A prayer for ourselves isn’t necessarily a selfish prayer. We may pray for something for ourselves in order that God may be glorified through our receiving the answer. If we could pray more for ourselves, God would be more glorified in us, and we would be a greater blessing to others.
It was well for the world that Jesus spent so much time in prayer for Himself. If we would be fit to pray for others we must spend much time in prayer for ourselves. It is a bad sign when one is always praying for others and never for himself. He is not like his master.

Pray About It: A few days ago we prayed only for others. No prayers for self were offered. Today, take time out to pray for yourself. What are your needs? What are your wants? How can God be glorified by blessing you?
Most of our prayers will still be for others, but God knows we too are hungry. Prayers for self don’t have to be selfish. Prayer for strength, wisdom, finances, daily bread, mercy, and much more are all legitimate requests.
Today, be bold in asking for yourself. Tell Him exactly what you need. He will hear.
There is no thought, feeling, yearning, or desire, however low, trifling or vulgar we may deem it, which, if it affects our real interest or happiness, we may not lay before God and be sure of His sympathy. God’s nature is such that our often coming does not tire Him. The whole burden of the whole life of every Christian may be rolled on to God and not weary Him, though it has wearied the Christian.
