Let no one expect to have mastery of his flesh without going, again and again, in his weakness to the Lord for strength. Nor will prayer with others or conversing with the brethren make up for secret prayer.

Pray About It: The most successful pray-ers are those who know their own inward weakness. Without God, they have no strength. They know too that the flesh loves to talk to others about our problems, rather than pray. We’ve all seen this when we’ve gone to meetings where we ended up talking more than praying. It takes an emptying of self and a total reliance on God to hide oneself away from the brethren and to prevail over our flesh through prayer.
Nothing today will benefit your struggling with the flesh more than spending time with God.
Prayer—secret, fervent, believing prayer—lies at the root of all personal godliness.
