Magnificent Prayer #7
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8–9
Sometimes people speak of God having answered their prayer, but what they mean is that He has answered it according to their desire and done something about which they are glad. If He does something different they say sadly, “He has not answered.” All this is a mistake.
Prayer is always heard if the one who prays comes to the Father in the Name of our Lord Jesus.
I know that sometimes we can’t see how the thing granted is at all what we desire. And yet it is (I write for His lovers only). For, after all, what the deepest in us wanted was not our own will, but the will of our Father. So what is given is our heart’s desire; He has not withheld our request. But God always answers us in the deeps, never in the shallows of our soul: in hours of confusion, it can help to remember this.

Pray About It: We must never dictate to God how He must answer our prayer. In fact, God delights in surprising us with unusual grantings of our requests in keeping with His will.
The best attitude is to pray and rest. Today, tell God your needs—leave it at that. God will answer, but it will be His answer, not necessarily yours.
Never make the blunder of trying to forecast the way God is going to answer your prayer.
