Magnificent Prayer #43

Magnificent Prayer #43

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

James 1:5–8

I have been driven many times to my knees in the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for that day.

If the Lord did not answer prayer I could not stand it. And if I did not believe in a God who works His will with nations, I should despair of the republic.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Pray About It: The exact nature of President Lincoln’s faith has been often debated. But as the leader of a great nation, he was often sent to his knees when the wisdom of mere men proved insufficient.

Lincoln was right on two counts: God does answer prayer and God does work His will with nations. Pray today that our leaders will have the same spirit of prayer and dependency on God as did Abraham Lincoln.

When God wants me to do something, He always finds a way of letting me know about it.
