Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
Luke 18:1
“Staying power” in prayer is a rare quality. Our Lord realized this, and so gave at least two parables to encourage us to persevere, [that of the man who troubles his neighbor at midnight for bread because of an unexpected visitor (Luke 11:5–8) and the widow who besought the judge to avenge her of her enemies (Luke 18:1–8)].
There is no realm of the Christian life in which we weary so quickly as in prayer.

Pray About It: Why is it that we tire more quickly of prayer than almost anything else? We can read the Bible, talk about Christ, sit through a church service, listen to Christian radio, watch Christian TV endlessly. But prayer…well, that’s a different story. We pray quickly and then we leave. But staying power is what gets the job done.
If we would stay we would find refreshment. Our problem is that we give up before the refreshments arrive.
Stay awhile with God today.
Some people become tired at the end of ten minutes or half an hour of prayer. What will they do when they have to spend Eternity in the presence of God? We must begin the habit here and become used to being with God.
